Sensei Cody Hawkes:
Cody Hawkes has been a student of Sensei Meitatsu Yagi since 1994, and currently holds a Nidan, in Meibukan Goju-Ryu Karate-Do and a Nidan in Ryuku Kobudo Weapons. Sensei Hawkes has been training since the age of 6 and earned his first black belt at the age of 10. He has trained in both Canada and in Okinawa, Japan under Master Meitatsu Yagi. . Sensei Hawkes began teaching at the Dojo in 2005, and after graduation his passion for sharing martial arts became so strong that in 2008 he purchased the dojo, and in 2009 he founded Hawkes Martial Arts. Sensei Hawkes has been competing in sport and traditional Karate tournaments since the age of 8, most recently at the Hawaii State Championships and the Ontario Open.

Leaders:
Our leaders have not only committed themselves to train to the rank of Black Belt and beyond, they have also committed themselves to being leaders, not only in our school, but in life. These students are working to share the benefits of martial arts training, by being leaders for others to follow and setting a standard of "Black Belt Leadership Excellence" in all that they do in life. Our Leaders are proactive, goal setters, and present themselves as leaders, guiding and mentoring others. They assist in classes’ classes to gain experience leading others and being a mentor to lower ranking students.
